Spatial Fracture – The Dynamics of Space, Architectural Sculpture No. 01
ARTIST STATEMENT:
This sculptural work emerged from a semester-long exploration in Architectural Abstraction, where I aimed to translate architectural language into form, material, and gesture.
Created in my sculpture studio course, the piece investigates spatial tension, balance, and the push-pull between stability and collapse.
I intentionally limited the color palette to red, black, and white—referencing architectural drafting conventions and constructivist influences—to evoke a structural clarity while emphasizing form over figure. Each element was carefully placed to express intersectionality: not just of materials, but of moments in architecture where forces collide—verticality vs. horizontality, gravity vs. defiance.
A one-of-one sculptural piece from my Architectural Abstraction series. Created during a semester-long study exploring the structure, tension, and spatial narrative of architecture through form.
This piece was constructed by hand, using wood, paint, and composition studies in red, black, and white — inspired by Constructivist and modernist architectural themes.
